Rick is a Registered Dietitian and Senior Lecturer of Nutrition at Arizona State University. Rick is highly involved in professional nutrition organizations, holding several state and national positions. He was appointed by Governor Jane Hull as a board member on the Arizona Governor’s Council on Health, Physical Fitness, and Sports. He is an active member of Sports, Cardiovascular, and Wellness Nutritionists (SCAN) and is a Past Chair of the Nutrition in Complementary Care Dietetic Practice Group of the Academy of Nutrition and Dietetics. Rick was also appointed as a founding member of the Academy’s Council on Future Practice (CFP), charged with identifying emerging practice roles of dietitians for the next 20 years.
For the past decade, Rick has taught courses for computer applications in nutrition, nutrition communications, and nutrition entrepreneurship. Prior to working at ASU, Rick worked with About.com as the Nutrition Guide, where he developed nutrition content on the Internet for six years. Rick’s primary research focus is specific to the use of computer technologies in nutrition.
